Fidesz official: ‘Dollar left’ continuously financed from abroad
Hungary's "dollar left" is receiving ongoing, substantial funding from a network abroad, the communications director of ruling Fidesz told MTI on Saturday.
A report submitted to the national security committee and press reports point to leftist parties receiving funding from multiple sources, aimed to influence Hungarian politics, he said.
“Originally, we thought foreign funding of the dollar left was a one-off thing… but dollars keep rolling to the dollar left and dollar media,” he said.
Hollik insisted that the identity of some donors was now known, as was the target of the funding. At the same time, the provenance of much of the money is still unknown, he said.
He called on the opposition to “tell us where all that money comes from. Tell us finally if George Soros is at the other end of the money tap!”
