Fidesz lawmaker calls on parties to contribute to ‘utility protection fund’

Political parties should contribute to the government fund to protect its scheme to cut utility fees against "the threats from the war, the energy crisis and risky Brussels policies", the parliamentary group leader of ruling Fidesz said on Friday.

The government’s priority is to protect Hungarian families from soaring energy prices, Mate Kocsis said in a Facebook post.

The party will submit a proposal that “parties contribute to the fund to the tune of 3 billion forints [EUR 7.6m] at least, the surplus expenditures anticipated for their parliamentary groups in the coming years,” Kocsis said.
