Energy authority: Gas storage facilities over 60 percent full

By January 18, Hungary's gas storage facilities contained 3.98 billion cubic metres of natural gas, 62.96 percent of their total capacity, the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority (MEKH) said on Saturday.

Compared with the country’s annual consumption, the storage units on that date were 40.12 percent full compared with the European Union average of 23.74 percent, the authority said.

The amount currently stored is 109.5 percent of the annual household gas consumption of 2022 and is 53 percent more than the amount that was stored this time last year, MEKH said.
