EC selects Budapest Memento Park among Europe’s most endangered heritage sites
Memento Park was included in the EC’s 7 Most Endangered Programme launched ten years ago as part of a civil society campaign aimed at protecting and promoting Europe’s cultural heritage. The park will now receive a 10,000 euro conservation grant provided by Europa Nostra and the European Investment Bank Institute, the commission said on Thursday.
Other beneficiaries this year include the Kortrijk Railway Station in Belgium, the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Tchakvinji Fortress in Zugdidi in Georgia, the Sisters’ House Ensemble in Kleinwelka in Germany, the Cultural Landscape of Sveti Stefan in Pastrovici in Montenegro and the Watermills of Bistrica in Petrovac na Mlavi in Serbia.
