Double-digit growth for used cars

In the first quarter, the number of new car registrations increased by 3.5% to 32,850, according to the corresponding figures from DataHouse.

As the specialist portal joautok.hu added, the market for used car imports grew by double digits at the same time, by 12.5% to 30,625 units. In March, import growth even reached 22%. However, the total volume of the domestic used car market exceeded imports by a factor of eight to nine. The experts see an increased propensity to buy as a result of a higher savings rate, as well as the effects of the recently more stable forint exchange rate against the euro. The outlook for the coming months is cautiously favourable, provided the economic engine does not stutter again straight away.
