DK pitches 48-hour limit on foreign travel for government members

DK wants to submit a bill to prevent Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and members of the government from leaving Hungary for more than 48 hours during the state of emergency.

The Orbán government declared a state of emergency around 1,000 days ago due to the war in Ukraine and has repeatedly extended it. This allows it to do whatever it wants with Hungarians while the prime minister and members of the government ‘happily travel the world’ in the private jets of billionaires at taxpayers’ expense. If the country were really in danger, then a prime minister should be in his own country. The time has come to expose the hypocrisy of Fidesz, said parliamentary group deputy Gergely Arató.

The DK also recommends that the government report in detail on all financial decisions taken during the state of emergency and that the regulations be submitted to parliament for a vote without delay.
