DK: Budahazy, accomplices ‘will be sent back to jail after government replaced’

Radical activist Gyorgy Budahazy and his accomplices "will be sent back to prison once the Orban government is replaced", the opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) said on Friday, in connection with pardons granted by President Katalin Novak to "Budahazy and his gang" imprisoned on terrorism charges.

DK spokesman Balazs Barkoczi told an online press briefing that “party soldier” of ruling Fidesz, President Novak, had granted pardons “at the command of [Prime Minister] Viktor Orbán”.

“Viktor Orban has let loose dangerous far-right terrorists … who fired shots and threw Molotov cocktails at the houses of left-wing politicians and entertainment venues, and beat people up on the street,” Barkoczi said.

He insisted that by releasing Budahazy “and the other convicted terrorists”, Orbán would be “again unleashing political violence onto the streets of Hungary”.
