Deutsch: The TISZA party voted to punish Hungary and sided with Brussels over national interests

Fidesz-KDNP MEP Tamás Deutsch criticized the Tisza Party for consistently supporting Brussels’ migration agenda in the European Parliament, “which would turn Hungary into a migrant country by forcing the entry of illegal migrants.”

Tamás Deutsch highlighted the 2025 EU budget vote as a prime example, where Tisza MEPs backed the rapid implementation of the EU’s controversial migration pact. This pact, heavily criticized by Hungary, promotes illegal immigration and undermines national border protection.

Tisza MEPs also supported a HUF 10 billion increase in EU funding for migrant aid, while opposing a proposal that would have granted Hungary €2 billion in compensation for maintaining its southern border fence.

Furthermore, Tamás Deutsch revealed that the Tisza Party “voted to penalize Hungary for protecting its borders” and supported the European Parliament decision upholding the €200 million fine imposed on Hungary by the European Court of Justice for refusing to let illegal migrants into the country.

“By voting for this flawed migration agenda, the Tisza Party has shown they are working against Hungary’s security,” MEP Deutsch emphasized, adding that “instead of defending Hungary’s sovereignty, they voted to penalize us for protecting our borders.”

Fidesz-KDNP MEP Csaba Dömötör echoed these concerns, stressing that this is not the first time Tisza MEPs have backed initiatives that run against Hungary’s interests. “The Tisza Party’s alignment with Brussels means more migration, more war-related spending, and less financial support for Hungary,” Dömötör said. He explained that the Tisza Party’s loyalty to Brussels not only threatens Hungary’s sovereignty but also causes damage that will be difficult to repair.

MEP Dömötör further emphasized that those committed to protecting Hungary’s sovereignty, culture, and financial independence can only rely on Fidesz-KDNP MEPs. He added that the Tisza Party’s loyalty to the European People’s Party (EPP) has led them to prioritize Brussels’ agenda over Hungary’s national interests.

In contrast, Tamás Deutsch praised the Patriots for Europe group, which has consistently defended Hungary in the European Parliament, demanding the immediate release of EU development funds owed to Hungary and opposing discriminatory decisions that excluded Hungarian institutions from programs like Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe.

Concluding his remarks, MEP Deutsch reaffirmed Fidesz-KDNP’s commitment to protecting Hungary’s sovereignty. “We will not allow Hungary to become a migrant country,” he declared, pledging to resist further attempts by Brussels or the Tisza Party to impose harmful migration policies on the nation.
