Deutsch: Hungary won’t implement Brussels’ migration measures

Hungary will not implement Brussels' measures on mandatory resettlement quotas and "migrant ghettos", Fidesz MEP Tamas Deutsch said in an interview broadcast on public radio on Sunday.

He called Brussels’ behaviour “sour grapes” and said decision makers were meting out “political punishment” because they believed Hungary’s model for managing illegal migration was “legally objectionable”.

He noted that more than one-quarter of a million illegal migrants had been stopped at the Serbian-Hungarian border last year, while the number had reached one million over the past five years.

He said the practice in Western Europe, driven by “multicultural ideology”, of giving illegal migrants “the all clear” had produced “near catastrophic” results.

Under the new package of EU regulations, illegal migrants in Western Europe would be forcefully resettled in Hungary, where 10,000 a year would need dormitory-type accommodations and food, he said. He added that “migrant ghettos” would need to be set up, creating a public security risk.
