Defence research institute, SAAB sign cooperation pact
The defence ministry's Defence Innovation Research Institute (VIKI) and Sweden's SAAB have signed a declaration of cooperation detailing the timetable of their joint work, the defence minister said on Thursday.
Deputy state secretary Laszlo Deme, the designated chief executive of VIKI, held talks with SAAB executives, discussing specific cooperation steps in the field of extended reality (XR), Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky said, according to a ministry statement.
Under the agreement signed by the defence ministry and SAAB in March, the partners will set up a Centre of Excellence employing AI. SAAB will contribute to the development of the Hungarian Air Force’s capabilities as well as the “virtual training needs of the supporting operational capacities”, the statement said. Also, a maintenance training pilot project employing AI will be launched at the centre coordinated by VIKI, the ministry added.
