Culture minister: New culture regulation to create ‘simple, transparent, unified framework’
At his annual hearing before parliament’s cultural committee, Janos Csak said that when he took over the ministry in 2022, two-thirds of the funding went to Budapest. The ministry started to change that “in small steps”, and plans to continue that work in cooperation with representatives of various disciplines, he said.
“I maintain what I said last year: I won’t abolish educational institutions or any other kind, but I will vet them all,” he said.
He said that thanks to a revamping of the “statistical system”, the ministry now had exact data on the operations of institutions.
