Commissioner, GVH head discuss EU integration
Oliver Varhelyi, EU commissioner for neighbourhood policy and enlargement, and Balazs Csaba Rigo, the head of Hungary's Competition Office (GVH), agreed at their talks in Brussels on Wednesday that enlargement of the EU was in the interest of Hungary, and pledged further cooperation.
According to a statement from the GVH, Rigo and Varhelyi discussed “links between the enlargement process and the GVH’s activities”. Varhelyi said the integration of the Western Balkans, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia was in the interest of the EU and Hungary. He suggested that the GVH could “take an active role” helping those countries harmonise their competition laws with EU regulations.
Rigo said his office would ensure “every assistance” to the applicants and share its experience and practices with them.
