Civil organisations, NGOs start signature drive to secure ‘promised pay rise for teachers’
Hungarian and European Union decision-makers should set aside their political interests and unlock Hungary's EU funding, and in turn award teachers the pay rise they have been promised, Hungarian civil organisations and NGOs said on Wednesday.
Signatures can be uploaded to their English-language website www.forhungarianeducation.com, their statement said, adding that anyone from Hungary and abroad who consider the future of Hungarian children and young people important can visit the site.
EU funding should not be a political or strategic issue, the organisers said, citing the “constructive power of social cohesion, families [and] public education”.
The drive has been organised by the Harom Kiralyfi, Harom Kiralylany Movement.
