April 2 degrees cooler than usual
April this year was 2 Celsius cooler than normal, the national meteorological centre said on Facebook on Monday.
Last April was also especially cool, and this year was hardly any warmer. Temperatures in Hungary averaged 9.4 C, which is 2 C below the 1991-2020 average, the centre said.
The last time consecutive Aprils were below 10 C was in 1981-82.
Morning frosts were typical and there was even snow in several areas in central Hungary, while April was somewhat wetter than usual.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely in the first week of May, though it will be warmer, with temperatures in some areas above 25 C, the meteorological centre said.
