Agriculture Minister: CAP must be focused on farmers’ interests

The European Union's common agricultural policy (CAP) must once again be focused on farmers and their interests, Hungary's agriculture minister said in Brussels on Monday.

Hungary’s six-month presidency of the Council of the EU is focusing on making agriculture competitive, crisis-resistant, sustainable and knowledge-based, as well as ensuring that the bloc pursues a farmer-friendly policy, Istvan Nagy told reporters ahead of a meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council.

The closure of all open dossiers and EU policies will be based around these five priorities over the six months of the Hungarian presidency, the minister said.
