Bird flu detected in south-western Hungary
The H5N1 avian influenza subtype has been identified in samples from a turkey farm in Somogy County, in south-western Hungary, food safety authority Nebih said on Wednesday.
Protection and surveillance zones have been established around the farm in Kaposvar and around 39,000 turkeys have been destroyed.
The authority added, however, that restrictions in a large part of the country could soon be lifted.
