Air pollution high in Hungary
Air quality is dangerous in nine towns and cities in Hungary due to a high concentration of airborne particles, the National Public Health Centre (NNK) said on Friday.
Air quality is dangerous in Putnok, Kazincbarcika, Sajoszentpeter and Miskolc in northeast Hungary, as well as in Eger, Bekescsaba, Kecskemet, Pecs and Szazhalombatta, NNK said.
NNK declared air quality to be “unhealthy” in 11 localities, including Salgotarjan, Debrecen, Szeged, Tatabanya, Szekesfehervar and Varpalota.
Concentrations of particles are also considered to be too high in Nyiregyhaza, Szolnok, Dunaujvaros, Budapest, Esztergom and Sopron, NNK said.
Forecasts show a likelihood of rain in north and northeast Hungary, and winds to pick up over the weekend, which is expected to improve air quality.
