First Hungarian film in competition at Sundance

Szelid (Gentle), a film by Laszlo Csuja and Anna Nemes, is the first Hungarian film ever to be selected for competition at the Sundance Film Festival, the National Film Institute (NFI) said on Friday.

The film tells the story of Edina, a body builder, who is preparing to win a world championship with her coach and partner, Adam. The preparation demands unexpected, gruelling sacrifices, and changes the way she looks at life forever, NFI said.

The stars of the film, Eszter Csonka playing Edina and Gyorgy Turos in the role of Adam, have not acted in feature films before. Csonka is a world champion body builder, and Turos a coach who has previously worked with five world champions, NFI said.
