Astra Filmland near Budapest to offer 21st century technology
Astra film studios near Budapest is expanding its facility with several studios to serve large-scale international productions with cutting-edge technology in Hungary, the company said on Tuesday.
Astra Filmland at Mogyorod will offer several stages and large spaces suitable for a variety of productions with support services including set design workshops, equipment rentals, costume depots and a post-production studio on an area of 50 hectares. The film park will also sport an underfloor water tank with only Britain’s Pinewood Studios having one next in kind, as well as a special stage suitable for areal shots, a complex digital studio and a studio for modular backlot technology.
The Hungarian investors are spending 40 billion forints (EUR 110m) to convert the facility into a major film production venue in Europe with the aim to boost Hungary’s competitiveness in the international film industry.
