10th International Theater Olympics opens in Budapest
The 10th International Theatre Olympics opened in Budapest on Saturday, with concerts and street artists' performances taking place in several venues on the Danube embankment.
As the flag of the three-month series of events was hoisted by the National Theatre building, Attila Vidnyanszky, artistic director of the festival and director of the National Theatre, said that “more than 100 institutions are realising this dream” after four years of preparations.
The 10th Theatre Olympics will feature 750 productions by 400 theatre, dance and puppet theatre troupes from 58 countries, with 7,500 performers. The programmes will take place in almost 100 venues across the country until July 1.
