State debt ratio falls to 72.9 percent at end-2022
Hungary's state debt relative to GDP reached 72.9 percent at the end of 2022, preliminary data released by the National Bank of Hungary (NBH) on Monday show.
The ratio dropped from 75.2 percent at the end of Q3 and from 76.8 percent at the end of 2021.
Hungary’s constitution stipulates that year-end state debt relative to GDP must decline until the ratio reaches 50 percent.
In absolute terms, Hungary gross state debt stood at 48,840 billion forints at the end of last year, up from 42,321 billion at the end of 2021.
