Retail sales down 12.6 percent in March

Hungarian retail sales fell by an annual 12.6 percent in March, or 13.1 percent when adjusted for calendar-year effects, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Friday.

Food sales dropped by 10.3 percent, while non-food sales were 9.6 percent lower. Meanwhile, motor fuel sales dropped by 29.3 percent.

In the first three months of 2023, retail sales fell by an annual 9.5 percent when adjusted for calendar-year effects, KSH said.
