Industrial prices down by 3 percent in March

Industrial prices in Hungary dropped by an annual 3.0 percent in March, falling for the eighth month in a row after rising for years, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Tuesday.

Prices for domestic sale fell by 5.2 percent and export prices declined by 1.9 percent.

In a month-on-month comparison, industrial prices edged up 0.1 percent as prices for domestic sale slipped 0.3 percent and export prices inched up 0.3 percent.

Domestic prices of the manufacturing sector, which have a 60.0 percent weight in the PPI, edged down an annual 1.3 percent. Domestic energy prices, which account for 38.6 percent of PPI, fell by 13.3 percent.

Export prices of the manufacturing sector, which have an 82.9 percent weight in the PPI, rose by 2.3 percent, while energy sector export prices, with a 16.7 percent weight, dropped by 28.9 percent.

In January-March, factory gate prices fell by 4.7 percent year-on-year as prices for domestic sales decreased by 6.2 percent and export prices dropped by 3.9 percent.
