Industrial output down 8.3 percent yr/yr in April

Industrial output fell by an annual 8.3 percent in April, following a 4.1 percent decline in the previous month, a detailed release of data by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Wednesday shows.

Adjusted for the number of working days, output fell by 5.8 percent, while month on month, output dropped a seasonally and working day-adjusted 2.5 percent.

Output of the automotive industry, Hungary’s biggest manufacturing sector, rose by an annual 10.5 percent in April. The electrical equipment segment grew by 17.8 percent year on year.

Output of the food, drinks and tobacco segment dropped by 20.1 percent.

In the January-April period, output fell by 4.3 percent year on year.
