Government to establish working group for fiscal discipline

The finance ministry has announced the establishment of a budget working group for fiscal discipline.

The body will be headed by the finance minister and comprise the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, the head of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office and the prime minister’s political director. It will have veto rights over the cabinet’s budget decisions.

The working group is tasked with the “strict defence of the budget balance”, the ministry said.
