Construction turnaround continues

In May 2025 compared to the same month of the previous year output in the two main groups of construction changed in opposite directions: the onstruction of buildings lessened by 9.3%, that of civil engineering grew by 26.0%.

Among the divisions of construction, production volume increased by 12.1% in the construction of buildings, and by by 28.5% in civil engineering. Production in specialised construction activities, having the largest weight in construction, fell by 13.3%.

The volume of new contracts concluded went up by 17.0%; within it the volume of contracts for the construction of buildings decreased by 7.5%, those for civil engineering works increased by 51.0%.

The volume of the end-of-May stock of contracts at construction enterprises was 11.5% higher than one year earlier, within it the volume of contracts for the construction of buildings was down by 9.4% and grew by 29.3% for civil engineering works compared to May 2024.

In the first five months of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year construction output volume decreased by 2.4% .
