Construction output volume drops by 8.2 percent

Construction output volume, based on raw data, was below the previous year’s level by 8.2% in September 2024. Out of the main groups of construction the construction of buildings decreased by 2.0%, that of civil engineering lessened by 17.0%. Based on seasonally and working day adjusted indices construction output was 2.7% lower than in August. Construction producer prices increased by 5.4% in the 3rd quarter of 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year.

In September 2024 compared to the same month of the previous year output decreased in both main groups of construction: the construction of buildings went down by 2.0%, that of civil engineering by 17.0%.

Among the divisions of construction, production volume dereased by 17.0% in the construction of buildings, and by 39.6% in civil engineering. Production in specialised construction activities, having the largest weight in construction, expanded by 20.9% compared to the low base of the previous year.

The volume of new contracts concludedwent up by 2.7%. Within it the volume of contracts for the construction of buildings lessened by 17.8%, those for civil engineering works increased by 24.9%, year-on-year.

The volume of the end-of-September stock of contracts at construction enterprises was 36.0% higher than in the same period of the previous year, within it the volume of contracts was up by 1.5% for the construction of buildings and grew by 71.0% for civil engineering works.

In the first nine months of 2024 production volume in construction grew by 0.9% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Construction Producer Prices within the divisions of construction, prices increased in the 3rd quarter of 2024 by 7.0% in civil engineering and grew by 5.7% in the in the greatest weight carrying specialized construction activities, and went up in a lesser degree, by 3.8%, in the construction of buildings compared to the 3rd quarter of 2023.

Construction prices were 0.9% higher than in the 2nd quarter of 2024.
