Central bank governor addresses Beijing Belt and Road Forum
Gyorgy Matolcsy, the governor of the National Bank of Hungary (NBH), said in Beijing on Wednesday that Hungary's eastern opening policy dovetailed with China's Belt and Road Initiative which is why Hungary had been the first country in Europe to join the scheme.
The central bank governor delivered remarks at a thematic forum at the 3rd Belt and Road summit, the NBH said in a statement.
On the forum’s sidelines, he met for talks Lu Hao, the head of the Development Research Centre of the State Council. Matolcsy also had meetings with executives of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and the China Construction Bank (CCB).
The meetings strengthen the central bank’s international relations and will have a positive impact on Hungary and China’s financial and economic ties, the NBH said.
