Average real earnings up by nearly 5 percent
In August full-time employees’ average gross earnings were HUF 683,300, which was 8.7% higher than a year earlier.
Average net earnings reached HUF 472,600, being 9.2% higher than in August 2024. The growth in the net earnings was considerably affected by the higher amount of family tax benefit introduced as of 1 July 2025.
Regular average gross earnings (without premiums and one-month bonuses) were estimated at HUF 654,700, being 8.1% higher than in the same period of the previous year. The regular average gross earnings amounted to HUF 650,200 in the business sector, HUF 661,600 in the budgetary sector and HUF 678,200 in the non-profit sector, increasing by 7.5%, 10.2% and 8.2%, respectively, over a year.
Real earnings were up by 4.7%, along with a 4.3% increase in consumer prices compared to the same period of the previous year.
Median gross earnings were HUF 563,400, being 8.9% above the level a year earlier.
Median net earnings reached HUF 394,300, surpassing the value for the same period of the previous year by 10.0%.
In January-August 2025 full-time employees’ average gross earnings amounted to HUF 691,700, and average net earnings were HUF 476,100. Average gross earnings and average net earnings both increased by 9.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.
