Szijjarto welcomes new Luxembourg counterpart
In a Facebook post with photos of himself and Bettel, Szijjarto said: “The list of issues we don’t see eye to eye on is long, but it was proven again today that many difficulties can be overcome with mutual respect.”
He called Bettel an “iconic figure” of European politics, noting his long tenure as Luxembourg’s prime minister and that his appointment to the post of foreign minister had ended “the [Jean] Asselborn era”.
Szijjarto added that Hungary and Luxembourg were both rationalistic in their trade relations and agreed on the importance of dialogue.
The two countries will mark the centenary of their diplomatic relations next year, Szijjarto said, noting that their bilateral trade turnover had reached a record high this year.
