Szijjarto: Hungarian diplomats ‘not allowed’ to help fans at Munich arena
Consuls are to assist citizens staying abroad, Szijjarto said on Facebook, adding that he had instructed staff at the Hungarian consulate general in Munich to “provide continuous information” in connection with the football event.
Hungarian consuls were called to intervene twice earlier on Wednesday, when a bus with Hungarian fans was stopped once by customs officers and for a second time by the police, the minister said. He insisted that the German authorities had “only released the bus thanks to the firm stance of (Hungarian) consuls”.
Bavarian authorites have also indicated that textile signs, unless impregnated against fire, would not be allowed in the stadium nor would they allow marches at the facility, Szijjarto said.
Szijjarto suggested that, according to information received, there could be acts of provocation during the match and called on Hungarian fans to reject these.
