Sulyok receives Pellegrini in Budapest

President Tamas Sulyok met Peter Pellegrini, the head of the Slovak National Assembly, in Budapest on Monday, and praised the "excellent ties" between the two countries.

Sulyok and Pellegrini agreed on the importance of the Visegrad Group, and said Slovakia and Hungary were both committed to and had an interest in a strong and successful Visegrad cooperation, the Sandor Palace said in a statement.

The talks also focused on ethnic minorities. Sulyok said Hungarians living in Slovakia and the Slovak community in Hungary were key to the good relations between the two countries, and praised the coutries’ commitment to supporting the national identity, culture and education of minorities.

He said he hoped ties between the two countries “will reach a new level” after the presidential election in Slovakia.
