President of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev visits Hungary on a working visit
After being welcomed by Gergely Gulyas at the Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, President Mirziyoyev met the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán and thanked him for the invitation. President Mirziyoyev congratulated Prime Minister Orbán on the Saint Stephen’s day in Hungary and ongoing World Athletics Championship in the country. It is important to highlight that President Mirziyoyev also participated in the finals of World Athletics Championship.
During the talks, leaders discussed the relations between Uzbekistan and Hungary, opportunities for Hungarian investors in Uzbekistan, the strategic importance of Hungarian OTP bank in Uzbekistan, and the famous Hungarian companies including Bonafarm, Gedeon Richter, Meditop, Wizz Ai that started partnerships with Uzbek companies. President of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev also highlighted the importance of partnership in cultural and humanitarian fields. President Mirziyoyev also mentioned that starting from August 20, there will be direct flights between Uzbekistan and Hungary which will develop the strategic partnership between these two countries.
During the working visit, President Mirziyoyev also hold talks with the head of Hungarian OTP bank Sandor Csanyi. During the negotiations, opportunities for Hungarian investment and developing banking system in Uzbekistan were discussed and Sandor Csanyi thanked the President Mirziyoyev for creating investment friendly environment for Hungarian businessmen in Uzbekistan.
President Mirziyoyev also met other foreign leaders during his working visit in Budapest. This includes the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhammedov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Serbia Alexander Vucic, Amir of Qatar Al Thani and others.
Talking about Uzbekistan – Hungary relations, it is important to mention that both countries are connected within different international organizations including the United Nations and the Organization of Turkic Countries. Hungary places a very important role in the foreign affairs of Uzbekistan as one of the most trusted partners of Uzbekistan in Europe.
