Orbán meets Marine Le Pen in Budapest

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met Marine Le Pen, the parliamentary group leader of the French National Rally party in the National Assembly, in Budapest on Wednesday, the PM's press chief said.

Orbán, who also heads Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party, discussed with Le Pen the strengthening position of European right-wing parties in view of the 2024 European parliamentary elections, Bertalan Havasi said.

Orbán and Le Pen agreed that national conservatives must find a joint, determined response to the EU’s “imperialistic ambitions, failed economic policy and pro-migration initiatives”, he said.

They also discussed the political representation of families and national and Christian values, a focal point of both parties’ policies, Havasi said.
