Solar park for Nestlé

The Swiss food company's plant in Szerencs is expanding its energy supply with a new solar park with an annual capacity of 1.5 GW.

The investment totalling more than 700 million forints (approx. 1.7 million euros) is supported by the state investment agency HIPA. The plant will go into operation in March next year at the site of Nestlé’s regional production and filling centre for coffee and cocoa powder in Central Europe. It will cover around 30% of the electricity demand at the Szerencs plant and almost 21% of the total energy demand generated there.

Modernisation creates jobs

Nestlé Hungária Kft. has invested a total of HUF 9 billion in the 100-year-old factory in Szerencs in recent years. The continuous modernisation of production has created new jobs. The plant currently employs 500 people and has an annual production capacity of 40,000 tonnes. HIPA is supporting the investment with 45% of the total value.
