Skoda and BYD the top sellers
Accordingly, 89,050 passenger cars were sold from January to September, a good 6,000 more than a year ago at the same time. Van sales increased by a fifth to just under 18,400 vehicles, while sales of large commercial vehicles fell by a tenth to 4,260 units. For motorbikes, Datahouse recorded an increase of one-eighth to 6,350 units.
The new car market experienced its strongest months in March and June (with 12,900 and 11,700 new registrations respectively), while in August there was a lull in the motor showrooms (8,100 sales). In September, fewer than 9,100 cars were sold, compared to 9,800 a year ago. Skoda became the market leader with 1,100 transactions. In the BEV segment of electric cars, BYD took the top position for the third month in a row, although 176 new car sales were sufficient for this. In the first twelve months of its market presence in Hungary, the Chinese global market leader has already sold 1,000 BEV models.
