New top dog at MFB

Bence Katona succeeds Levente Sipos-Tompa at the head of the state development bank MFB.

This was announced by the Ministry of Economy on Tuesday. MFB CEO Sipos-Tompa is leaving by mutual agreement at the turn of the year – it is known that Finance Minister Mihály Varga named him as a member of his team when he takes over as President of the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) next year.

Under Sipos-Tompa’s leadership, the MFB Group has almost tripled its balance sheet total. The development bank secures capital-weak domestic companies with various financing structures, for example to ward off external shocks.

The previous head of the National Capital Holding (NTH), Bence Katona, replaces Sipos-Tompa at the head of the MFB. He will be succeeded by Sándor Buda, CEO of MFB Invest Zrt. The Minister of Economy expects the top managers to continue to contribute to the competitiveness of Hungary and its companies.
