The prime minister said on Facebook that Hungarians were currently making a decision about Ukraine's European Union accession.

"Hungarians shouldn’t be told what to think from the Ukrainian secret service HQ or from Tisza’s office in Brussels, because they themselves are the only ones who can decide on Ukraine’s EU accession," Máté Kocsis said.

The prime minister said his government had helped renew over 3,000 churches and build 200 new ones in the Carpathian Basin.

The prime minister said in a video statement uploaded to Facebook that the EC proposal would "bankrupt Europe" and put an "unbearable burden" on families.

The prime minister said the government had gone to great efforts to make sure Hungarian families pay among the cheapest energy prices in Europe.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán addressed rising energy costs, the EU’s Ukraine policy, domestic political rivalries, and the need for moral leadership, warning that opposition-backed European plans could undermine Hungary’s economic and national interests.

Minister Szijjártó said Hungary was being forced to pay the price of the Commission's support for Ukraine.

Minister Szijjártó said that after the "complete failure" of its sanctions on Russia, the EC was "making another serious mistake by banning energy imports from Russia".

The prime minister said forecasts pointed to another season of drought this year, in spite of recent rainy weather.

The president helped welcome MTA's 200th anniversary of its foundation.
