The programme including 2,972 music, literature, theatre and dance performances, as well as family and other events at 40 venues will be held in the villages of Kapolcs, Vigantpetend and Taliandorogd, festival director Natalia Oszko-Jakab told a press conference.

Several museums will be represented at this year’s festival with a greater focus on contemporary art, she said.

Tibor Navracsics, the minister of public administration and regional development, said that over the years the Valley of Arts had become a part of the region’s economy, and by strengthening local communities, the entire region, its economy and the whole of Hungarian culture were enriched.

Maintaining the momentum gained from last year’s Veszprem-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture series, the aim was to develop a region of creative activities in which the Valley of Arts festival played an important role, he added.
