The Hungarian State Opera has announced that it is dedicating its 140th season in 2023-24 to Slavic music, with 14 premieres and 40 works connected to Slavic culture, General Director Szilveszter Okovacs said on Tuesday.
Czech composer Antonin Dvorak’s Rusalka and Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov will be on the programme, as will a concert performance by tenor Placido Domingo and soprano Anna Netrebko, Okovacs said. The house orchestra’s concerts will also focus on Slavic composers, he added.
The season will start with two guest performances on Sept. 9 and 10, he said.
