Exhibition of 19-20th century Hungarian paintings opens in Ankara

The show was opened in the Art and Sculpture Museum at an event held on the occasion of the start of Hungary’s presidency of the Council of the European Union by Viktor Matis, Hungary’s ambassador to Turkiye, Gabor Csaba, deputy state secretary for cultural diplomacy, and Burhan Kayaturk, the member of the Turkish Great Assembly and chairman of the European Union Harmonization Committee.

Gabor Kovacs, the owner of the collection which provided the paintings, said the show features works by Mihaly Munkacsy, Karoly Marko, Miklos Barabas, Laszlo Mednyanszky, Pal Szinyei Merse, Istvan Csok, Karoly Kernstock and others, presenting a range of genres including portraits, romantic landscapes, realist and naturalist works created between 1800 and the 1910s.

The exhibition will run for two months.
