Bret Easton Ellis China and celebrated American author
Bret Easton Ellis will be guests of honour at Budapest's 15th
International Book Festival, April 24-27. China has been chosen as guest of honour to introduce its book
industry, which accounts for 20 percent of the global total, as well
as its culture, one of the most ancient of the world, said Peter
Zentai, president of the Hungarian Publishers' and Booksellers' Association.
Forty-eight Chinese publishing houses from 34 provinces will be
present, as well as with three authors to meet the audience, at its
100-sqm-stand, the Chinese Embassy's cultural attaché Liu Weng Qing
said.
The Budapest ELTE University's Confucius Institute will present
a cross-section of their publications including Chinese translations
of Hungarian books.
Bret Easton Ellis, whose entire output is available in
Hungarian, will be at the festival opening on April 24 to meet the
public.
The Budapest festival is modelled on the prestigious Frankfurt
Fair and is organised each year to coincide with World Book and
Copyright Day on April 23. This year it will present volumes by
500 publishers from 30 countries.
