Tihamér Tóth joins White & Case |

Budapest, 20 January, 2010 - Global law firm White & Case LLP announced today that Dr. Tihamér Tóth, former Chairman of the Competition Council of the Gazdasági Versenyhivatal, has joined the Competition Practice as Of Counsel in the Budapest office.

An associate professor of Competition Law at the Catholic University in Budapest and a member of the Scientific Committee of the International League of Competition Law, Dr. Tóth has more than 15 years of experience working in government with the European Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In his role as Of Counsel, he will advise in the area of state aid, European Law, as well as Hungarian and European Competition Law. In addition, he will liaise closely with White & Case’s Brussels office, which has a leading European Competition Law practice.
“Tihamér’s extensive experience is an invaluable asset to the Firm and will further strengthen our Competition team,” said István Réczicza, Executive Partner of the Budapest office. “His background and knowledge, having led the Competition Council on a number of high profile cartel and competition cases, will certainly strengthen our capabilities to effectively meet all of our clients’ needs.”
A respected author, Dr. Tóth has written widely on Competition Law in the EU in English and Hungarian and published several articles, papers and presentations on antitrust, consumer deception and state aid issues.
