City MSZP may have found fall guy

The outgoing Socialist deputy mayor of Budapest, Csaba Horváth is to be appointed a government commissioner charged with liaising between Mayor Gábor Demszky and Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai, the left-leaning daily Népszabadság reported last week. The paper speculated that Horváth is being groomed as the Socialist Party’s candidate for mayor in next year’s local council elections. The forty year old politician set up a successful advertising agency in 1994 before joining the Hungarian Socialist Party in 1999. Horváth and another Socialist deputy mayor, Miklós Hagyó, will quit their posts on 20 November following the disintegration of the governing Socialist-liberal alliance on
