The Budapest police (BRFK) "has acknowledged" the Hungarian gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community's Gay Dignity March across the central districts of the city set for Saturday, BRFK announced on Monday.
"Each citizen has the right to express or demonstrate their opinion, even if it is different from the views of others," BRFK said in a statement. The police have warned participants, however, that they should "refrain from behaviour violating public taste" or else they would be prosecuted.
Last week, the Christian Democratic People's Party and a conservative MP demanded that the annual parade be banned.
The march is part of the 14th Budapest Pride, a week-long cultural festival which started on Sunday.
