Apathy reigns as party gap narrows

Support for the ruling centre-right Fidesz party and the Socialists is almost equal, according to an Ipsos poll conducted this month. Of decided voters, 33 per cent would vote for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s party, while 30 per cent declared they would back the Socialist Party. The far-right party Jobbik came third on 22 per cent. By far the largest group, however, are the two-thirds of those polled who said they would not bother to vote if elections were held this weekend.
