The tenth Dance Forum that leads up to the International Day of Dance is now underway. Hungarian and international dance ensembles will perform at the National Dance Theatre and the Palace of Arts during the 13-day festival, which runs until 29 April.

This Monday (19 April) at 7pm the Hungarian Dance Company will give a gala performance of its most successful pieces from mid-year competitions and small concerts at the Festival Theatre of the Palace of Arts. The following day (20 April) at 7pm Four Seasons, performed by the Duna Art Ensemble, will be premiered at the National Dance Theatre. The production promises to bring together the music of Vivaldi and Transylvanian folk music, traditional folk dance and innovative choreography. The Hungarian Art of Movement Company’s playful dance piece Carrot, Radish, Hazelnut about healthy eating targeted at young children will be performed twice on 22 April at the National Dance Theatre at 10.30am and 3pm.
The world-famous Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo will come to Hungary from the USA for the first time to entertain audiences with its drag-queen parody of classical ballet on three evenings, 21, 22 and 23 April, at 7pm at the Festival Theatre.
Zoltán Grecsó will present his pieces devised specially for the festival Conversation Full of Salt and The Budgie and the Cockatiel at the National Dance Theatre on 27 April.
The Dance Forum will be crowned by the gala evening in celebration of the International Day of Dance on 29 April from 7pm at the Festival Theatre. At the event organised by the Hungarian Dance Association prizes will be given to the best male and female dancers of the season, the best creator of the season and the best graduating student of the season, as well as a lifetime achievement award.
The events are accompanied by a dance photography exhibition of pictures from the archives of the Gizi Bajor Theatre Museum and the Dezs? Papp Institute.
