A tenth of the creditors of Megyeri-bridge main
contractor Ganz Acél (GA) last week signed agreements on accepting only
around a third of the amount they are owed from the construction works
of Budapest’s new bridge, a deputy CEO of one of GA’s parent companies

Hungarian Guard denied the existence of the Holocaust at a rally in
front of the German Embassy on Saturday before the last, which made
even leaders of the Movement for a Better Hungary (Jobbik) create

Last Thursday’s AGM of Hungarian oil giant MOL approved
management plans to better-protect itself from hostile takeover. The
meeting was held without the representatives of more than 20%
shareholder Surgutneftegas after MOL told the Russian firm that it did
not receive its actual report on purchasing the shares from Austrian

It’s about time the rest of the world caught up with
Hungary. I have friends who tell me that Americans, who can be
irritatingly cheerful, optimistic and upbeat, even in the worst of
times, are beginning to feel gloomy and depressed. I have similar

At first glance the entrance to the Chez Daniel
restaurant at Szív utca 32 does not stand out from that of other
buildings in the Pest city centre. The inner courtyard, however, turns
