Job losses real in game of numbers

There are various figures on exactly how many people
have lost their jobs in Hungary because of the financial crisis in
recent months. News site index.hu’s job loss counter stood at 23,227
last Friday, but, according to an announcement made last Monday by the
National Association of Steelworkers (VSzSz), in the steel industry
alone some 25,000 people have been made redundant since November. Continue »

Smaller Parliament proposed again

Everybody says they want it and yet whenever the
proposition of a smaller parliament makes it to the House floor, it
does not go through. Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány decided that the
crisis provides a perfect opportunity for him to push his agenda about
the reduced number of representatives through, and also suggested
