Weather forecast for Tuesday

Budapest, April 28 (MTI) – A cloud cover will be building up in
the west triggering scattered showers, while longer sunny periods
can still be expected in the central and eastern regions. Winds will
be from the south-west and may pick up to high at places in the
afternoon. Nighttime lows should range from 4 to 9 degrees Celsius and
daytime highs will be between 17 and 22 degrees Celsius, the

Free Democrats to back gov’t reshuffle conditionally

Budapest, April 28 (MTI) – The liberal Free Democrats – SZDSZ –
will not raise any obstacle to the government reshuffle if Prime
Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany comes forward with a reasonable proposal
for upgrading the standards of government without any rise in red

Cbank raises base rate by 25bps to 8.25pc

Budapest, April 28 (MTI) – Hungary’s central bank rate setters,
the Monetary Council, raised the base rate by 25 basis points to
8.25 percent on Monday. The Monetary Council last raised the base rate by 50 basis

Controversial multi-billion consultancy contract cancelled

Budapest Transport
Company (BKV) and AAM Management Information Consulting Kft announced last week
the cancellation of two five-year contracts worth HUF 2.5 billion (EUR 9.91
million). The move came after suggestions in the press of questionable
